The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) is Canada’s voice for wilderness. We are a non-profit environmental organization. We safeguard the environment by working to protect half of Canada’s public land and water. Our focus is to ensure a healthy and wild Canada where people experience and respect nature. Since 1967, CPAWS Southern Alberta Chapter has led conservation efforts to protect areas in Banff National Park, Kananaskis, the Whaleback and the Castle. Our chapter is also a leader in environmental education. We offer award-winning programs to help build the next generation of environmental stewards.

What we do

CPAWS is excited to share a short new video we created to celebrate wilderness areas and recreation in Alberta. Take a short Kananaskis snowshoe adventure with Mike Morrison and CPAWS guide Alex.

This video is the first of three that highlight the importance of recreating sustainably in the beautiful parks and wilderness areas in Alberta. Thanks to the first survey to look at Albertans values towards nature and outdoor recreation, we now have a better grasp of the high value Albertans place on wilderness. We need these wild places so we can recharge our body, mind and spirit. Please join us in spreading the word about conserving Alberta’s wilderness.
